Asphalt Shingle Roof Installation
Asphalt shingles are a type of roof shingle that uses asphalt for waterproofing. It is actually one of the most commonly used roofing methods/ covers due to its relatively inexpensive costs. Also, the installation process is more manageable than many other roofing cover methods. Having a reliable and waterproofing roof is a must due to living in Florida and the ranging weather and, let us not forget the hurricanes. There are 3 different types of asphalt shingles: 3-tab, dimensional, and luxury. All relatively casting the same with about the same installment method.
Clean and Prep Shingle Roof
We are first going to determine exactly which type of asphalt shingle you are going to need. Once we determine what type we then are going to measure your roof to make sure we get enough shingles to cover your entire roof. It normally takes about 3 packs of shingles to cover 100 sq ft. Next, we are going to remove your old shingles and flashing by using a roofing shovel and a hammer to remove the nails. We will be completely removing all the flashing and then sweeping the roof clean removing all the debris. Cleaning and prepping your roof is one of our key steps to giving you a reliable new roof.
Installing New Flashing & Underlayment
This will be the base before your asphalt shingles act as weatherproofing. Creating a barrier between your house and the weather snd its elements. We are going to start by putting the underlayment on top of thy roof. We will then secure the feel of the roof with a staple gun. Once that is secure with 3-4 inches of underlayment we then install the new flashing by nailing it down simply with roofing nails and a hammer. We make sure to lay the flashing around any places prone to leaks to prevent so.
Install Your Shingles
Finally, we made it almost done with your new roof! Before we install the shingles, we like to map out a guide of where the shingles are going to lay. This is done to assure smooth sailing so no installment issues will arise and your new roof is installed perfectly and reliable. We now will be installing the shingles by working our way up and across. We use a nailing technique to assure its stability. This is hammering each nail 2 in away from each and every shingle’s end. We make sure to cut each last shingle in a row to size correctly for a sleek-looking roof. And there you have it, your new asphalt shingle roof. Best done by planet roofing!
